Engineering Broom Hockey

Sponsor: Omega Chi Epsilon

Activity includes four teams, a team for each undergraduate discipline: Chemical, Electrical/Computer, Mechanical, and Civil/Environmental competing in a round-robin fashion. Points will be awarded to the winning teams.

Engineering Alumni Association Panel Discussion and Reception

Sponsor: UD Engineering Alumni Association

UD Engineering alumni host engineering students for an afternoon of networking. An alumni panel representing Civil & Environmental, Electrical & Computer, Chemical and Mechanical professionals will provide a forum for open discussion regarding career opportunities, job preparation, etc. Panel discussion will be followed by pizza and soft drinks and an opportunity for informal discussions and networking.

Diversity in Engineering Workshop

Sponsor: National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)

What does diversity mean in an engineering environment? A diversity professional will lead a workshop to create a dialog to capture diversity perspectives in the engineering workforce.

Order of the Engineer Ring Ceremony

Sponsor: The University of Delaware, College of Engineering (COE)

A formal ceremony to induct students into the fellowship of engineers trained in science and technology, and dedicated to the teaching, administration, and/or practice of their profession.

Dress for Success Workshop

Sponsor: Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)

With the proliferation of new dress codes and constructs in many professional areas what is the contemporary meaning of “dress for success” in an engineering environment? A career professional will lead a workshop to provide career enhancing perspectives in the engineering workforce.

Business Etiquette Luncheon

Sponsor: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)

This activity informs and introduces engineering students to the written and unwritten rules of dining in a professional or meeting situation. An etiquette professional will be on hand to provide practical and useful information.

Women in Engineering Mentor Reception

Sponsor: College of Engineering (COE) and Society of Women Engineers (SWE)

Activity provides an opportunity for current UD students to interact with women professional engineers, faculty members and graduate students.

UDEL Senior Design Presentations – Dinner Meeting

Sponsor: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Delaware Section

An opportunity to experience mechanical engineering student design at its best. The University of Delaware Senior Mechanical Engineering students finished their Fall Semester Design Course in December. The top project presentations will be presented at this dinner meeting along with awards for their winning project efforts.

Graduate School Panel

This activity provides a discussion to explore information and perspectives on Graduate Education.

8th Annual Engineering & Technology Jobs Fair

Sponsor: The UD MBNA Career Services Center

A career development activity to introduce engineering, science, and technology students to the employment opportunities and career challenges in the high-tech workforce. Over 40 companies will be present.

Engineering Quizzo Night

Sponsor: Tau Beta Pi (Engineering Honor Society) and College of Engineering (COE)

Teams of students, staff, and/or faculty will compete against one another in a college bowl format activity.

2006 Engineers Week Celebration

Sponsor: Delaware Council of Engineering Societies (DCES)

A celebration of the accomplishments of the Professional Engineers of Delaware.

Explore Research Pizza Lunch

Sponsor: Society of Women Engineers (SWE)

Faculty and students from each academic department will have an opportunity to explore research possibilities in a chat and chew format. Each department will have a designated location which is currently TBD.

College of Engineering Eweek Banquet

Sponsor: College of Engineering and COE Student Organizations

This activity provides an opportunity for the college to come together to formally celebrate National Engineers Week 2006. A hot buffet dinner meal will be provided to those in attendance.


Saturday, February 26

Teams Competition

Sponsor: Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS) and COE

Teams of High School students solving challenging engineering problems.
