Bioengineering
Although there are no programs in the College of Engineering which lead to a graduate degree titled "biomedical engineering," considerable research and instruction being conducted in the Chemical, Electrical and Computer, Mechanical, and Materials Science and Engineering departments focus on the application of engineering to problems related to the human body. Many College faculty are actively involved in the Center for Biomedical Engineering Research and the Biomechanics and Movements Science Program. These efforts are also supported by programs in the departments of Biological Sciences, Physical Therapy and Health and Exercise Sciences. In addition, education and research projects in biomedical engineering often involve extensive interaction with local medical centers and industrial laboratories.
